For the 436th Aldo Ning Kapampangan Celebrations
SUMMARY
Ten esteemed academic institutions with their various representatives, both
from the private and public sectors, heeded the invitation of PamagCUSA
(Pampanga Crusaders, USA) and KMI (Kapampangan Marangal
Incorporation) last 10 December 2007 (Monday) at the University of the
Assumption for the Provincial Office coordinated event “A Project Advancing
Responsible Citizenship: Essay Writing and Painting Competition” in line with
the celebration of the 436th Aldo Ning Kapampangan. The results of the
competition yielded promising, awe-inspiring and stunning entries. The
younger the minds, the better the ideas.
All participants were given a one page instruction sheet/competition
backgrounder to closely understand and digest as a briefer, prior to the start of
the competition. No names of prominent individuals were mentioned. The
broad competition topic was plain enough to comprehend and internalize
“Good Governance and Responsible Citizenship”. The rest of the ideas and
contents of individual entries are the participants own. No other thoughts were
fed to them by the organizers. Technically, professionals give instructions.
Perhaps after some careful analysis and internalization of most of these
winning entries, one would realize how much can be learned from these
young minds. At certain points, one can be humbled at how much wisdom,
idealism and honesty drives them.
As one reads on, kindly take note what brilliant minds our academes are
honing. Rizal’s famous quote “The youth is the hope of the country” still rings
true. Some entries may still have rough edges but the promise of prominence
is there. One need only to remember that the most precious cut stones were
once unpolished, rough gems.
Here are some of the unpolished gems of Pampanga’s society:

Painting competition was also held for college students and professionals.
The winning entries were presented to Governor Panlilio in a recent courtesy
call. Governor Panlilio directed that the winning paintings be posted in the
provincial library. (Click on the thumbnails)
